For a second year in a row, we are thrilled to bring this important coffee. This lot from producer Luis Roldan is not just a delicious coffee, it is much more than that.
Although specialty roasters typically name their single origin coffees after the growing region or farm — this one was named after the farmer in charge. Luis Ruldan is not only a farmer and a agricultural engineer, but also a well respected leader of a producing group called Cafe Collis Resistencia formed from the Indigenous Xinxa community. While this washed coffee produced by the group is pure gold with notes of Nougat, Vanilla and Almond, the group also uses their energy to protest an illegal Canadian-owned silver mine on indigenous land.
