This party plate measures about 17 centimetres or 6.5 inches across. 

Beach sand from Salmon Cove, Newfoundland was swirled into the porcelain clay as it was thrown on the wheel. The plate is then glazed clear to showcase the sand.

Party Plates started as a warm-up exercise. Whenever I have a day at the wheel, I start by making six small plates - but repetition has never been my strong suit and these bread and butter plates evolved! With a variety of surfaces and textures - often involving beach sand, I think these plates are fun and ideal for entertaining.
