Beach sand from Elliston, Newfoundland was swirled into the porcelain clay as it was thrown on the wheel. The sand is visible behind the turquoise crystalline glaze and also visible in the clear glaze on the rim. 

Approximately 17-18 centimetres from rim to rim.

Party Plates started as a warm-up exercise. Whenever I have a day at the wheel, I start by making six small plates - but repetition has never been my strong suit and these bread and butter plates evolved! With a variety of surfaces and textures - often involving beach sand, I think these plates are fun and ideal for entertaining.
