Producers who deliver coffee to the cooperative’s washing station will receive a higher price in the event of a profit after the sale - demonstrating the honesty and transparency of the cooperative. \u003c\/em\u003e\u003cbr\u003e\u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cp\u003e\u003cem\u003eWe partnered with Jim Ngokwey of with Optimist Coffee Traders for \u003cstrong\u003eour first Congolese lots\u003c\/strong\u003e. \u003cstrong\u003eOptimist focuses\u003c\/strong\u003e on sourcing coffees from the Democratic Republic of the Congo and across Africa, \u003cstrong\u003eworking closely with producers and cooperatives\u003c\/strong\u003e at origin. The team behind Optimist helped shape \u003cstrong\u003eone of the first U.S. importers dedicated to Congolese coffee\u003c\/strong\u003e, and brings that experience into how they build relationships and move coffee today.\u003c\/em\u003e\u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cp\u003e\u003cem\u003eTheir approach is simple: keep quality high, keep connections direct, and make sure producers are part of the value being created. It’s about \u003cstrong\u003ebuilding something more balanced\u003c\/strong\u003e across the supply chain, from farm to roaster.\u003c\/em\u003e\u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cp\u003e\u003cem\u003eThe \u003cstrong\u003esituation in the country\u003c\/strong\u003e, including in coffee producing regions, has been difficult and very volatile in recent years. Rwanda \u003cstrong\u003emilitias sponsored by imperial forces\u003c\/strong\u003e are controlling most of the coffee producing regions.
